Genetic and Molecular Similarity of Autoimmune Disease
The development of autoimmune diseases is generally multifactorial and genetic, age, gender, or environmental factors may play a role. Previous studies have found that certain genetic loci and factors may increase overall autoimmunity risk, and the sharing of genetic factors suggests that molecular pathways are also shared. It is still unclear what the molecular impact of these variants is and how they contribute to the disease. This project focuses on autoimmune diseases and their genetic similarity as well as the molecular consequences of individual mutations, genotype, phenotype, and whole exome/genome data along with various omics data using unsupervised techniques.
